I attended Emory University and the University of Georgia finishing with majors in molecular biology, microbiology, and entomology. After graduation, I attend the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri graduating at the top for my class.
I completed one of general surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. I was very fortunate in then being accepted into the very competitive Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency at The Medical College of Georgia.
During My residency the Head and Neck residencies increased from four years to five years and so I was able to serve as Chief Resident for two years. During my last two years I was able to train with two Plastic Surgery/Facial Plastic Surgery/Head & Neck surgeons affording me a “fellowship” if you will, and giving me training in all aspects of Plastic/Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery. I also attended throughout numerous Plastic/Reconstructive surgical education courses at prestigious medical universities throughout the country further sharpening my skills.
Dr Toland’s Personal Life
Dr Toland was born in North Africa. His mother was French and his father was working with an American engineering company when they met.
“I have lived all over the world and have seen and experienced a wealth of cultures” Toland said “Our similarities as human beings far outweigh our differences.”
Dr. Toland says that he knew he wanted to be a physician since he was five years old although being a cowboy or fireman was “right up there” also.
When he was fourteen Dr. Toland’s family left Europe and the Mediterranean area to join his father who had decided to accept a job in mechanical engineering at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. Dr. Toland finished high school in Warner Robins before continuing his medical education.
“I always thought that I would move to a larger city, but once you have your first child your priorities in life change. “ Dr. Toland always liked the Middle Georgia area and when an excellent opportunity presented itself and with both his mother and father retiring in Warner Robins the decision was easy.
Dr. Toland and his wife have three children and live in Middle Georgia. He speaks four languages and his hobbies include: scuba diving, golf, sculpting and of course his family.
